Privacy Policy
FieldKit ("the App") is developed and operated by Quentin Dommerc ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.
The short version: Your tool inventory stays on your device unless you choose to export it. We don't run a backend, we don't have accounts, and we don't track you.
1. Your Inventory — Stored On-Device
FieldKit stores everything you enter — tools, photos, receipts, serial numbers, warranties, locations, categories, and loan records — in a local database and local app storage on your device.
- No inventory data is uploaded. The App works fully offline. Your tools, photos, and attachments are never transmitted to any server we operate.
- No account is required. FieldKit does not have user accounts, logins, or cloud sync. There is nothing for us to store on your behalf.
- Exports are user-initiated and local. When you generate a PDF report or a CSV file, it is created on your device and shared only where you choose to send it.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Anonymous Analytics
We collect minimal, anonymous usage analytics to understand how the App is used and improve it. This data is sent to our self-hosted analytics service (Rybbit) and includes:
- App open events
- Feature usage counts (e.g., "tool added", "report exported")
- Aggregate counts only — never tool names, photos, serials, or any inventory content
This analytics data contains no personally identifiable information (PII), no device identifiers, no IP address logging, no cookies, and no advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID).
2.2 Purchase Information
If you purchase FieldKit Pro, the transaction is processed by Apple (App Store). We use RevenueCat as a purchase management service. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous app user ID
- Purchase receipts and entitlement status
We do not receive or store your payment details. For details on how RevenueCat handles data, see their privacy policy.
2.3 Data We Do NOT Collect
- Tool names, brands, models, or serial numbers
- Photos, receipts, manuals, or any attachments
- Purchase prices or estimated inventory values
- Borrower names or loan records
- Location data
- Contacts or address book
- Device identifiers or fingerprints
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA, GAID)
- Names, email addresses, or account information
3. Permissions
FieldKit requests only the permissions it needs, and only when you use the related feature:
- Camera / Photo Library: To attach photos of tools, serial plates, and receipts. Images stay in the App's local storage.
FieldKit does not request access to your location, contacts, or microphone.
4. Data Storage
The only data stored is local to your device:
- Your tool inventory and its attachments (local database and app storage)
- Your purchase/entitlement status (cached by the RevenueCat SDK)
- A flag indicating whether you've completed onboarding
No data is stored on our servers. If you delete the App, your local inventory is removed with it — export a backup first if you want to keep it.
5. Third-Party Services
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| RevenueCat | Purchase management | Anonymous user ID, purchase receipts |
| Rybbit (self-hosted) | Anonymous analytics | Event counts (no PII, no inventory content) |
We do not use any advertising SDKs, social media trackers, or user identification services.
6. Children's Privacy
FieldKit does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal information from any user, no special provisions are necessary.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since FieldKit does not collect or store personal data, these rights are inherently satisfied. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
